This is what I get for tapping the Crown Vic’s quarter panel to take down a rust-swollen spot (as in the rust buckled it outwards).

Edit: Kinja’d! Where’d my picture go...

Time for welding in patches and waxoyling all the things. Plus swearing, lots of swearing.

Oooooooooor I continue to throw rust converter and paint at it in the fall since it’s already too far gone to be worth actually fixing :) This is nothing new; I have no rockers and a lot of the pinch weld has been disappearing. If it weren’t on a frame (which is clean other than one spot which has no loading unless you’re towing) it wouldn’t be sound to drive.

The floors are remarkably clean but basically every panel has some rust, most of them holes. These chunks came from the inner structure of the quarter, in front of the wheel. Typically in the fall I sand down and throw some fresh converter/paint at the bad spots (which does actually fix the surface rust) and dump some fluid film inside the panels as best I can; by spring it’s rusty again.

Ive only had unibody cars so rust like that is usually more panic inducing for me haha.

My dad had a mid-90's accord that he took to get inspected (state inspection in PA), the guy put it on the lift and it just crunched instead of going up. Didn’t pass.

We had a micra like that. Jack points were the pinch seams on the sills. One day I went to jack the car up and the jack punches straight through the sill. I started jacking old cars up by something solid underneath since then instead of using the jack points.
